There has always been a degree of uncertainty as to which insurance policy, if any, might provide protection for university personnel not professionally qualified undertaking medical or clinically related activities. Universities with Medical Schools may have such personnel and students undertaking a diverse range of 'treatment' activities including possibly operating MRI scanners. Other universities have developed and expanded into areas such as the provision of Podiatry, Eye Clinic, Treatment of Sports Injuries and consultative services. A University's Public Liability policy normally excludes cover for medical or clinically related activities. Professional Indemnity policies do not provide cover for 'treatment risk' nor financial loss associated with treatment. Faced with a claim in relation to the treatment of a patient, other than an NHS supervised patient, without a medical malpractice insurance policy a university is dependent upon a professionally qualified member of staff's private insurance policy responding to the claim. Risk2Value has facilitated access to a medical malpractice insurance policy that provides protection for all university personnel not professionally qualified and for students involved in treating patients. Indemnity limits of £1m - £5m can be arranged. Annual premiums can be as low as £750 and the University is protected against all activities declared. Please contact either myself or Graham Peck if you would like further information regarding this facility. _______________________ 09 December 2005 - Graham Peck joins Risk2Value Ltd Risk2Value Ltd. the specialist insurance and risk consultancy firm established at the University of Sheffield is pleased to announce that Graham Peck, formerly Head of Marsh Education Practice, has joined Risk2Value.
